20th Week of Pregnancy is four months and around two weeks; for most women, there is no hiding pregnancy anymore!
What to expect at 20 weeks pregnant? What’s happening inside your body?
At the 20th week of pregnancy, you’ll notice an increase in your energy levels, but you may also feel exhausted! Along with this stage of pregnancy come the following symptoms:
Hair and Nail Growth
At 20 weeks pregnant, you’ll notice that your nails are growing stronger and hair all over your body will grow faster.
Heartburn is common for most of the pregnant women and it’s totally normal you can fix it by chewing sugarless gums after each meal.
Headaches are absolutely normal during the first and second trimester; taking fresh-air breaks will help and always tell your doctor and don’t take any pills without their consult.
Swelling of Feet and Ankles
The water retention in your ankles and feet may cause pain and in this case, make sure to wear comfy shoes; this symptom too isn’t harmful but can be annoying. As long as it’s not severe, you’re safe
This symptom is very common during the second and third trimester. It could be painful and in order to ease the pain just extend your leg or let your partner offers you a nice message.
As your sleeping becomes better and more regular, consequently you’ll notice an increase in your energy levels.
Shortness of Breath
At 20 weeks pregnant, you may notice shortness of breath because your lungs are not expanding enough to get a full breath.
You’re expected to experience vaginal discharge until delivery; it’s your body’s way to stay clear of bacteria. But if you experience severe vaginal discharge, check your doctor right away!
How big is your baby at 20 weeks pregnant?
At 20 weeks pregnant, your baby will be as big as a banana; measuring around 6.5 inches long and weighing about 10.2 ounces.
What’s happening with your baby? (Your Baby’s Development)
At 20 weeks pregnant, your baby is feeling everything around you. In fact, they can feel what you’re feeling, hear your voice and detects light from your tummy. At this stage, your baby can hear your heartbeat and outside noises like music. In addition, your baby’s hair is starting to grow.
20 Weeks Pregnant Ultrasound
At 20 weeks pregnant, your tiny baby’s taste buds start working. Additionally, your baby is now growing scalp hair that will be present at birth but it will fall out during a couple of weeks after birth before the permanent hair starts to grow. The mid-pregnancy ultrasound will allow you to see your baby’s limbs, fingers, and toes. In addition, you will see their straightening spine. This is really amazing, isn’t it?
