The 27th week of pregnancy is the official end of your second trimester and the start of your third trimester. Way to go, girl!

What to expect at 27 weeks pregnant? What’s happening inside your body?

You have now been pregnant for more than six months. During this time, there are huge changes occurred inside your body and your body will go on for more adjustments until your delivery. Here are the common symptoms of the 27th week of pregnancy:

  • Leg Cramps

Most pregnant women suffer leg cramps during the different stages of pregnancy. If this is happening to you, consider wearing comfy flat shoes.

  • Backaches

As long as your baby is growing, you’re gaining weight. Thus, you’ll experience some backaches during the 27th week of pregnancy. Consider sleeping with huge comfortable pregnancy pillows to ease the pain around your back.

  • Peeing when Sneezing

Ridiculously, most pregnant women experience this symptom during the 27th week of their pregnancy. It happens to you, too, because your baby is putting a lot of pressure on your bladder. You’ll find that a small sneeze can urge your feeling of peeing, it’s normal!

  • Swelling

You may notice that you can’t get your ring on or off, this happens because of the swelling or AKA Edema. This happens in your body because of the fluids building up in your body tissues and the vena cava.

  • Dizziness

Here it comes again, dizziness is one of the most common symptoms during almost the whole pregnancy period. Mention it to your doctor, lie down and elevate your legs to relieve the feeling.

  • Bleeding Gums

It’s the pregnancy hormones once again, you may notice that your gums become bleeding. Therefore take an extra care of your teeth during this week.

  • Itchy Belly

You will notice the skin around your bell became dry and stretched out, don’t worry; the expanding uterus keeps growing. Just use a good moisturizer to ease the itch!

  • Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS)

Restless Leg Syndrome is linked to the iron-deficiency making you feel your legs are tingling especially at night. Tell your doctor and consider yoga, meditation or Pilates to relax.


How big is your baby at 27 weeks pregnant?

At 27 weeks pregnant, your little one will be as big as the size of a lettuce; weighing about 1.9 pounds and measuring 14.4 inches long!


What’s happening with your baby? (Baby’s Development)

At 27 weeks pregnant, your baby’s taste buds are very developed now. Amazingly, when you eat some spicy food your baby will taste that flavor and will respond by hiccupping! Don’t worry these hiccups won’t disturb her or him as you think!

27 weeks pregnant means that your baby has learned how to soothe his or herself by sucking their tiny thumb.


When to call the doctor?

You’re highly encouraged to call your doctor the moment you have any of the following symptoms:

  • Difficulty breathing
  • Vaginal bleeding
  • Decreased fetal movement

  • Get a baby car seat
  • Eat healthy food
  • Stretch and Relax
  • Drink plenty of water
